Through this great sport, we have learned a lot about the German shepherd dog. Foremost is that the German shepherd would not be the world's best all-round working dog without selective breeding. It is not enough to just breed two "papered" dogs. Dogs should have to prove that they are worthy of the "German shepherd" name. Too many breeders forget about the breed's history as a working dog. The breed was created in Germany to assist in police work, search and rescue, customs and military duties, etc. These working dogs are no accident. They are the product of more than 100 years of careful and selective breeding. We strongly believe in carrying on this tradition. |
